Sorry I'm a month late, but thanks for the Happy Birthdays!!!!
I hope y'all are having a good '09 so far.
Always nice to make friends with a fellow techie!
Matt
On the demos I'm using a GML 2032. For the long form work I do, I get copy changes sometimes a year or longer after the initial recording, so I wanted something that wouldn't drift (sound wise) like tubes tend to do. Make no mistake, I really liked the Voxbox too, but for what I do I'm happier with the George Massenburg unit.
Thanks for the compliment. I don't know much about the dbx 376. What I can tell you about tube equipment in the price range you're looking at is that the weakest part of those units are the tubes themselves. So if you decide on a DBX, Presonus, ART etc., the way to make them sound better is to replace the stock tube with a better one. There are several discusions about that subject on some of the voice over boards. Also, you might try for a better answer about the DBX from the Gear Heads group. There are some guys that belong to the group that can give you a better idea of how that unit will work for you. By the way, my chain is 100% solid state. I had a Manley Voxbox, but it's for sale at the moment.
Take care,
John
